November 19th-22nd, 2025 – NSBP Conference & Awards
- The N’Gom research group attended the National Society of Black Physicists’ and National Society of Hispanic Physicists’ joint conference (NSBP-NSHP 2025) in San Jose, California. Several of our group members presented their research at the POP/AMO technical sessions.
- Congratulations to Jacob Merida for winning the best poster award for the Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (AMO) session during the conference!
October 31st, 2025 – Viet Tran Defense
- Viet Tran has successfully defended his thesis on utilizing wavefront shaping as a fundamental block for photonic interactions. Congratulations Dr. Tran!
November 13th-17th, 2024 – NSBP Conference
- Professor Moussa N’Gom, along with some of his graduate students attend the National Society of Black Physicists and National Society of Hispanic Physicists’ joint conference (NSBP-NSHP 2024) in Houston, Texas from the 13th to 17th of November 2024. Professor N’Gom was one of the notable chairs of Photonics and Optics sessions during the time. Members of our group alongside other graduate students took a photo with Professor Thomas Searles, NSBP’s 2024 President-Elect.

- Congratulations to Tianhong and Nazifa on the publication in MDPI the Journal of imaging on their research for a scoring-based genetic algorithm creating a flexible and easy to implement algorithm to find an optimal solution for multiple objectives

August 8th, 2022 -Wavefront Shaping
- Congratulations to Nazifa and Tianhong for their publication in Applied Physics Letters on their research for a feedback-based Wavefront Shaping algorithm which allows for detection of hidden signals in scattering media.
November 13th – Filamentation
- An article written about one of Dr. N’Gom’s current research projects which at it’s core features a high-power, ultra-fast laser to create filaments through clouds.
